Sending handmade cards is something I really like to do. It can be simple or elaborate, either way you took time out of your day to make someone feel special.

These are recent cards I made for people. The basic construction of the card is very simple, but the hand embossing took a little time.

First ink up your stamp with clear embossing ink, then ink it up with chocolate. Stamp image on a piece of white card stock. Pour clear embossing powder over the entire image, shake off excess and set with heat tool. Go back in with markers or colored pencils and color all parts of your image. With this stamp I colored the center dot of each flower with Canary Yellow, made a circle around the Canary Yellow with Tuscan Red, then colored the rest of the flower with Peach. On each un-opened bud I colored the base of the bud with the Tuscan Red, then the rest with the Peach. This gives it a "real" look. After all your image is colored go over every part that you just colored with a clear embossing pen, pour embossing powder over, shake off excess and then heat set. All the markers I used for this card are Prismacolor Markers.

This is the same technique just a different stamp and different markers. The edges of the white card stock were sponged with Mocha Powder Puff Ink from Quick Quotes.

Same technique again. I just loved this stamp, saw it at Hobby Lobby and had to have it! Edges of white were sponged with amaretto, & mocha from Quick Quotes. Then I stamped the flourish/wheat stamp on edges with mocha.

I just love finding new hobbies! Jewelry is something I have always loved, but never took the time to learn. Well, until now! The local Hobby Lobby had beads 50% off a couple of weeks ago and I decided it was time to jump in. I bought some simple earring hooks, jump rings and some very simple looking beads. I made my mom 5 pairs...yes that's FIVE pairs of earrings for Mother's Day. I then went back to Hobby Lobby and hit the 50% off sale the next week and bought a ton of stuff! I am now officially a bead junkie. I know there could be lots of worse things I could be, so now I will play with paper two or three days and then play with beads the other days!

I have realized very quickly that paper is more "forgiving", but I am still learning. :-)

(For me.. not sure what I will wear them with, but I like them.)

(me maybe....not sure yet )
This really started out as a "hum...I wonder....."
Addie was playing in the pool this afternoon with her friends and all I could see was blue pool and water...everywhere, hence the blue beads!

Every kids dream at some point is probably to have a pony as a pet. Well Addie wants a pony, but she will have to settle for riding her friends pony! Her friend Audrey from Kindergarten invited her over to play last weekend and at the end of the day Audrey's mom, Robin, let them ride the pony. Addie was ecstatic! She was absolutely grinning from ear to ear!

This is a memory I will never forget.

Tiger Night
(An event held at our school to showcase the students work throughout the year.)

Addie's art project was a clay pot
Her class participated in the recycling project. Addie's was the flower garden which is pictured in an earlier post.
Megan, Sarah & Erwin did a Rube Goldberg project. It was a very complicated device that after all parts performed their respective duty it turned off an alarm clock. I believe Meg's final grade was an 87%! I think that was great after seeing the work that went into it!
In case you are unfamiliar with Rube, here is a brief description.

Reuben Garret Lucius Goldberg
(4 July 1883 – 7 December 1970) was an Americancartoonist, sculptor, author, engineer, and inventor who received a 1948 Pulitzer Prize for his political cartooning. He is best known for his series of popular cartoons depicting Rube Goldberg machines, complex devices that perform simple tasks in indirect, convoluted ways.

Excellent work kids! You make mom proud.
